The music department of Roscoe United Methodist Church, 475 High St., near Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton, announced David Bond will play his flugelhorn/trumpet for their 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services with a full concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26. A small reception will be held after the afternoon concert.

Bond (www.davebond.org), a gifted flugelhorn/trumpet player from a small town in West Virginia, began learning his instruments at age 9 with his professional debut at the age of 13. Heavily influenced by Louie Armstrong, Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass, he evolved into an instrumental soloist.

Bond has approximately 150 shows per year. In March 2013 he came out with his newest CD, “No Side Effects." On Feb. 5 he promoted his first single, “Never Giving Up,” and reached number-one Most Added Single on R&R & Smooth Jazz.com (national charts). “Never Giving Up” was number-one single with most spin increase and reached in the top 10 on the National Jazz Billboard Charts. It also was featured on Smooth Jazz Network, based out of LA California.

In 2011 the release of his CD, “Light,” brought national acclaim on Smooth Jazz Radio and reached number nine on the national Billboard Jazz Charts.

In 2007 Bond moved to number 10 on the R&R indicators and became endorsed with Conn and Selmer. His television and sports appearances included airing in Columbus Blue Jackets on ESPN2 and performing for the Cincinnati Reds. He also was featured in several Christian music magazines and networks, WTAP-TV’s (NBC) “Daybreak,” and numerous Christian conferences.

In 2007 Bond’s career expanded to include a guest appearance on the national television show, "Studio Jams," which has over 10 million viewers on the BET station. In November 2007 he was an entertainer aboard the Sovereign of the Seas, a smooth jazz cruise.

In 2008 Bond signed with Nuance Music Group, based out of Long Island, New York, then released “Friday Afternoon.” This full-length album will be released in February on both Nuance and Little Fish Records. “Friday Afternoon” is a collection of original instrumental pieces.

Bond’s holiday single, “Deck the Halls,” hit number one as the most added song on Smooth Jazz Radio stations nationwide such as Chicago, Miami, Orlando, NYC and more. He also hit number eight in the top 10 most spin increase listing nationwide.

Since 2008 Bond released two more CDs: “Skyline,” produced by Matt Marshak with Nuance Records, and “Midnight Cruise.”
