Starting at the bottom and working your way to the top is a component of many success stories. At SUPERB Industries, look no further than the story of Melissa Betts, recently promoted as its planning and global logistics manager. Betts, 28, got her start at SUPERB’s sister company, Stitches USA LLC, which manufactures about 400,000 American flags and flag banners a year as a part of SUPERB’s headquarters, 330 N. Third St., Sugarcreek. Betts, a 1999 Garaway High graduate, continually proved her value and commitment to John Miller, SUPERB’s president, and his management team. “Several years ago when we had a planning position open, our management team identified Melissa as the prime candidate for the job,” Miller said. “I was in Europe on business when they called me about their recommendation. I had observed Melissa’s dedication and willingness to go above and beyond. It was an easy decision and she has done a great job. Her experience working on the floor in several capacities has given her the ability to understand the logistics of turn around times and technical issues when it comes to meeting our clients’ needs and ensuring they receive our products on time.” Betts said that knowledge and SUPERB’s bottom-up management system have allowed her the confidence to speak with authority when dealing with scheduling and production issues in-house and when answering questions with clients from Mexico and overseas. “Just knowing the turn around times and understanding how everything works is a big part of what I do,” she said. Betts said her time at SUPERB has inspired her to grow and learn.
