Lehman’s expands its housewares department area
Lehman’s, the iconic oldtime general store in Kidron, recently hosted the reopening of its housewares department. With an expanded area from 4,100 square feet to 5,000 square feet, the remodel allows for Lehman’s to delve into new things and expand existing categories like canning, food preservation, baking, cooking supplies and cast iron. It offers over 10,000 different products in housewares alone.
“We refreshed the space to highlight our huge assortment of practical and pretty items for your kitchen,” said Cameron O’Neill, director of merchandising. “We worked with key vendors to expand our product lines but still carry the tried and true products we are known for, like the Amish-made rolling pins, spoons and dough whisks. We are using antiques for some of our displays so we can incorporate the old with the new. Visiting Lehman’s is like going to a museum and going shopping at the same time.”
Housewares products and cooking and heating stoves and fireplaces have always been a focus at Lehman’s.
“When you are good at something, you need to build upon that strength,” O’Neill said. “We strive to be an experiential retail destination, and we believe in reinvesting back into the business to create that for our customers. We always believe in treating our customers, suppliers and each other as we would like to be treated, and this was a great partnership.”
With all new custom lighting provided by partner vendors and locally manufactured and made fixtures and flooring, the housewares department is adjacent to the newly remodeled Lehman’s Café, which features soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts and oldtime glass bottle specialty drinks.
To celebrate, there was a deal of the day and gift basket giveaway each day of the week. The first 200 customers who arrive on Saturday, June 10 when the store opens at 9 a.m. will receive a free Mason jar mug and coupons for the store.
Lehman’s is open except Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and always open at www.Lehmans.com.
