A number of local pastors will unite Feb. 15, and if the allure of an exotic world doesn’t tempt you, the savory scent is sure to grab your attention. The Mongolia Mission Partnership invites the public to its annual Pastor’s Cook fundraiser breakfast Saturday, Feb. 15. The breakfast, featuring sausage gravy and biscuits, homemade cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, coffee and juice, will take place 7-10 a.m. at Berlin Mennonite Church. Patrons are invited to come and eat, enjoy the fellowship and tour a real ger, a traditional Mongolian home, which will be set up at the church. Visitors can also learn more about some of the amazing work going on in Mongolia. In addition to the food, there will be authentic jewelry and crafts made by Mongolian artisans for sale. “This is a nice event for local pastors of the partnering Mongolia Missions Partnership to celebrate together and to help bring awareness to the amazing mission work taking place in Mongolia,” said Matt Flinner, associate pastor at Martins Creek Mennonite Church in Berlin. Local church partners of Mongolia Mission Partnership include the Mennonite churches of Berlin, Longenecker, Martins Creek, Moorhead, Pleasant View Smithville and Walnut Creek, all Mennonite churches which have embraced the relationship with the growing Christian faith in Mongolia. Earlier this year, Char Kellogg, who has been to Mongolia on several occasions, said of the mission, “It is exciting to know that we are supporting people who have been in Mongolia giving so much to encouraging and enabling the growth of the church there.” “The MMP has given us a window to the world we wouldn’t have otherwise, with the chance to experience the work God is doing through our missionaries firsthand, in the field,” added Todd Martin, pastor at Smithville Mennonite Church. “MMP helps our congregations understand and own the mission. We are glad to be a part of it.” The pastors, who do all of the cooking and preparation for the breakfast, invite everyone to come enjoy this special morning of food and fellowship.
