Blue Christmas service Dec. 23 at Shreve Community Church
For someone who has experienced a loss, the thought of facing all the celebration and busyness of the Christmas season can be hard, and a Blue Christmas service may provide an experience they find helpful.
Shreve Community Church will host a Blue Christmas service on Monday, Dec. 23 at 6:30 p.m. The Blue Christmas service is meant for people experiencing loss and facing difficult circumstances during the holidays. Individuals may come because they are lonely, mourning the death of a loved one, struggling financially, experiencing conflict with another, suffering from illness or addiction, or have lost a job. The service is for those carrying pain or loss at this time of year and allows those in attendance the opportunity to reflect and grieve in a quiet atmosphere.
The service offers a message of God’s love, a time for reflection and an invitation to light a candle in memory of a loved one or in recognition of other losses.
Shreve Community Church also will host a 13-week GriefShare program beginning Jan. 9 and continuing each Thursday through April 3 from 7-8:30 p.m.
