Smithville to observe National Day of Prayer May 5

The National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday, May 5. The 2011 theme is A Mighty Fortress is Our God. The Smithville area observance will also take place May 5, at 7 p.m., in The Historic Church of God. The church is located at 149 North Milton St., across from the Smithville Elementary School. The entrance is handicap accessible. Pastors from local churches and the mayor of Smithville have parts in this service. The Swallens will provide organ and piano music. There will be congregational singing, with soloists Ruth Swallen and Lowell Frantz. The Rev. O.J. Thompson is chairman of the planning committee.
