Smithville United Methodist Church will have a variety of events in the coming weeks.

Messy Church will be on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 4-6 p.m.

Allan Bauman, the author of “Paw-sitive Dog Training,” will teach a dog-obedience course at the church on Thursdays, Sept. 20 and 27 and Oct. 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. The cost is $85 and includes Bauman’s book, a $175 value.

All proceeds will go to the SUMC for community outreach programs. This is a special event, and class registration is limited to 14 dogs. All family members are encouraged to participate.

Once registration limits are reached, there will be an opportunity for nonparticipating members to attend without dogs for $10.

Bauman has been actively training dogs for over 39 years.

Payment is due at the time of registration and is filled on a first come, first serve basis.

The church will host The Ultimate Tailgate Party with outside games like corn hole, ladder toss, guessing booth, inflatable bowling and Plink-O, just to name a few, along with lots of food on Friday, Sept. 28 (Smithies vs. Chipps) from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Call 330-669-2371 for more information.

The Smithville United Methodist Church is at 243 N. Milton St., Smithville.
