The Supper Table, an open door ministry held at the First United Methodist Church, offers a free meal to anyone in the community every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The church is located at 201 W. High Ave. in New Philadelphia.

According to Megan Chrisman, Supper Table coordinator, the meals are planned by eight separate teams of volunteers. She said the teams plan the meals that include a protein, starch, vegetable, fruit, dessert and beverage.

“When the Supper Table opened in 2010, we had only two teams and 20 volunteers. We served about 90 individuals. Today we average about 65 each Tuesday,” Chrisman said. “The meals are served in the social hall, and those attending should enter the church at the door facing West High Avenue. The social hall is handicapped accessible.

“This is a community effort, and we are seeking additional volunteers to help serve, clean up or donate food items. Our church feels it is important to welcome everyone and to open the doors to the community, which is true discipleship.”

Rev. Ryan Cockrill is the lead pastor of the church. Call Chrisman at 330-340-2044.
