4-H Shooting Sports Club meets
                        

The Holmes County 4-H Shooting Sports Club met May 11 at the Eastern Holmes Sportsman Club. The U.S. flag pledge was led by Jimmy Britt, the 4-H flag pledge was led by Camden Tennant, the treasurer’s report was given by Lucas Bailey and the secretary’s report was given by Camden Tennant.

Among the topics discussed were community service projects: East Holmes Sportsman’s Club maintenance; the CSB Mini Grant; first responders and service organization thank-yous; the TSC bake sale with hot dogs, snacks and drinks; the Ohio National Guard; Veterans Affairs; ink cartridge recycling; aluminum can recycling; pop can tabs for dialysis at Akron Children’s Hospital; trash pickup along an adopted township road; and volunteering for Airport Ridge Clays scoring.

May meeting refreshments were furnished by Patricia Lang, and members participated in shooting clays, archery practice and pistol training.

Projects that are offered in the Shooting Sports Program are basic archery, archery, crossbow, safe use of guns, pistol, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, shotgun shell reloading, living history, hunting, wildlife, trapping, fishing, Western heritage and more.

The next club meeting will be held Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eastern Holmes Sportsman Club. June meeting refreshments will be furnished by Lucas Bailey.
