Hiland FFA members recently participated in the Mt. Gilead Invitational Spring CDE (Career Development Event) Invitational. Jessica Davis and Megan Hippert competed in Dairy Products. The objective of Dairy Products is to focus on milk quality, federal milk marketing orders and attributes of selected milk products. Grant Mast competed in General Livestock. General Livestock teaches students to recognize quality production animals. Students learn skills that will make them better livestock producers and consumers by experience in identifying and understanding characteristics that affect production and quality. Preston Shamp and Javan Scheufler participated in Nature Interpretation and Wildlife. This contest is designed to gain interest and to provide recognition for those who have demonstrated skills as a result of natural resources instruction. Jessica Davis placed 47 and Megan Hippert placed 39 and they placed 16th as a team in Dairy Products. Grant Mast placed 79 and 43rd as a team in General Livestock. Preston Shamp placed 47 and Javan Scheufler placed 51 and they placed 12th as a team in Nature Interpretation. Also, Preston Shamp placed 106 and Javan Scheufler placed 104 and they placed 25th as a team in Wildlife. Hiland FFA members also participated in the Marysville Invitational Spring CDE contests. Jessica Davis and Megan Hippert competed in Dairy Products. David Yoder and Grant Mast competed in General Livestock. Javan Scheufler competed in Wildlife. In Dairy Products, Megan Hippert placed 50, Jessica Davis placed 48 and they placed 22nd as a team. In General Livestock, Grant Mast placed 247, David Yoder placed 232 and they placed 61st as a team. In Wildlife, Javan Scheufler placed 130 and placed 42nd as a team. Hiland FFA members participated in the Ashland Invitational Spring CDE contests. Jessica Davis, Megan Hippert and Darrius Rolince competed in Dairy Products. Grant Mast and David Yoder competed in General Livestock. In Dairy Products, Jessica Davis placed 42, Megan Hippert placed 53, and Darrius Rolince placed 58. They placed 13th as a team. In General Livestock, Grant Mast placed 60 and David Yoder placed 106. They placed 44th as a team. Hiland FFA sent members to participate in the State Spring CDE contests held at the State Fairgrounds April 6. Jessica Davis and Megan Hippert competed in Dairy Products. Grant Mast and Rachelle Yoder participated in General Livestock. Javan Scheufler, Preston Shamp and Lee Shetler competed in Wildlife. In Dairy Products, Jessica Davis placed 77, Megan Hippert placed 30. They placed 28th as a team. In General Livestock, Grant Mast placed 349, Rachelle Yoder placed 68th. They placed 118th as a team. In Wildlife, Javan Scheufler placed 445, Preston Shamp placed 283 and Lee Shetler placed 283 and placed 71st as a team.
