Something rather festive about hanging baskets

Our place loves hanging baskets. We have several hanging about right now, but we could probably add a few more and our house would not object.

There is something rather festive about a flower or fern-filled pot hanging about a place. It means spring is finally here. That doesn’t mean we won’t have a few more chilly nights, but fingers crossed, no more freezing nights.

We had wonderful help from family members a few days ago. They arrived early, mowed the lawn, yanked weeds and mulched every bed in sight. Our lawn has never looked so grand, and our house is absolutely thrilled.

Now we are in the process of taking the plants outside that have wintered inside. A couple already have buds on them. Our house misses the plants but is so happy to have them blossoming in her garden beds.

We lost a couple of plants this year, much to our house’s regret. Sadly our windows just don’t let in enough light to please every plant. However, our house is so happy that we can now open those windows and let fresh air inside.

In the window-opening process, I found a couple of dead yellow jackets, a dead bee and an odd-looking beetle. How they got inside is a mystery, unless they came in when we brought the plants inside for the winter.

Because our place is allergic to insects, she might have zapped them when they made themselves known.

Now is the time of year to enjoy the outside of our place. We are arranging the lawn furniture to enjoy warm, sunny days and are busy adding new plants to bare spaces in the gardens.

This is such a lovely time of year. We love it, as does our house, except for the occasional storm. We had a rather loud one the other night. Our house and I were nervous, but our dogs were terrified. They hid under the bed until the storm passed. I would have joined them, except there was no room. My Taller Half slept through the whole thing.
