AC-WH JVSD BOE elects president, vice president
                        

The Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District Board of Education held a regular meeting in the board room on Jan. 18.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized December Student of the Month recipients Haleigh Stephens, junior, animal vet tech, Hillsdale High School; Braydon Rakovec, senior, mechanical engineering, Hillsdale High School; and Megan Blough, adult education, dental assisting.

—Held a public hearing on the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center 2024-25 school calendar.

—Heard a presentation on the fiscal year 2025 tax budget and the public budget hearing.

—Approved the tax budget for 2025 and appropriation modifications.

—Approved an increase in appropriations for Fund 002, debt retirement, by $100.

—Approved the transfer of $100 from the 003 Permanent Improvement Fund to the 002 Debt Retirement Fund.

—Approved the FA Solutions LLC contract for third-party financial aid processing and support at an annual cost not to exceed $18,000.

—Approved the adult education fees for 2024-25.

—Approved the Tri-County ESC certified/classified sub list.

—Approved the employment of the following adult education part-time certified personnel, effective the 2023-24 contract year: Jonathan Keene, career development lead, and Shannon Alexander, career development.

Other information

During the organizational meeting, which took place before the regular board meeting, Dave Hunter was elected president and Gina Deppert was elected vice president of the Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District Board of Education for 2024. Also, an oath of office was given to newly appointed board members Rick Ewing, Kenneth Schuck and Forrest Chanay.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 15 at 6 p.m.
