East Holmes BOE approves treasurer’s contract extension
                        

East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, Dec. 15 at the East Holmes Central Office.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized the following Hiland WKLM Students of the Week: Miah Miller, Dec. 4-8; Andre Yoder, Dec. 11-15; and Maria Franks, Dec. 18-22.

—Approved the following “Then & Now” Certificates: Walnut Creek Cheese in the amount of $3,233.50 for the WC student support fund, Tom Mullet Tours LLC in the amount of $10,000 for the CR/MH student trips and Premier Pharmacy in the amount of $5,830 for self-insurance.

—Accepted the school safety and security grant in the amount of $29,837.62 from the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to purchase floor cleaning equipment.

—Accepted the safety intervention grant in the amount of $39,301.74 from the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to purchase floor cleaning equipment.

—Accepted the following donations: $449.95 from Hummel Group toward the district cafeteria lunch debt and $322.20 from Bonnie Nickles toward the Berlin Elementary lunch debt.

—Approved calendar draft No. 2 for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved an addendum to the educational/special services contract with the Tri-County Educational Service Center.

—Approved the purchase of a 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4WD truck through Village Motors Inc. at a cost of $47,994.08.

—Approved the purchase of a 2023 RAM ProMaster Wheelchair Van through Bus Service Incorporated at a cost of $82,620. Bids were received through META Solutions.

—Approved open enrollment for one Winesburg student and four Chestnut Ridge students for the 2023-24 school year.

—Approved the renewal of the Ohio School Boards Association membership for January through December 2024.

—Approved the renewal of the Ohio School Boards Association Legal Assistance Fund Consultant Service contract for January through December 2024.

—Approved a resolution to administer third-grade assessments in English/language arts and mathematics in a paper format for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved the Hiland eighth-grade class field trip to Washington, D.C. on April 24-26.

—Approved the Chestnut Ridge and Mt. Hope eighth-grade class field trip to Washington, D.C. on May 8-10.

—Approved a contract with the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital for an “on-call” athletic trainer.

—Approved a five-year contract extension for Charles Daniel Reiman, treasurer, effective Aug. 1 through July 31, 2029.

—Accepted the resignation of Alyssa Mast, aide at Berlin, effective Dec. 21, 2023.

—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2023-24 school year.

—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2023-24 school year: Ben Draper, volunteer assistant boys junior varsity/varsity basketball coach, and Kristin Thomas, volunteer assistant girls junior high basketball coach.
