AC-WH JVSD board holds Dec. meeting
                        

The Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District Board of Education held a regular meeting in the board room on Dec. 21.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized November Student of the Month recipients Addison Landoll, junior, early childhood education, Loudonville High School; Devon Rocker, senior, maintenance training, Ashland High School; and Marisa Miller, adult education, phlebotomy technology.

—Recognized David Hunter, board member, Loudonville-Perrysville Schools, for serving as president of the Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District in calendar year 2023.

—Approved membership with the Ohio School Board Association for 2024 at the cost of $3,648.

—Appointed David Hunter as president pro-tempore of the board of education of the Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District, effective Jan. 1, 2024, and through to the election of the president of the board for the calendar year 2024 at the organizational portion of the January board meeting on Jan. 18, 2024.

—Approved a transfer of funds of $441,495 from the 001 General Fund to Fund 070 Capital Projects.

—Accepted the following donations: $200 from Moreland Community Historical Society, Wooster, to the Interact Club; $500 from Gus and Hilary Dria, North Canton, to the CBI Skills Club; a New Holland LX565 skid steer, bucket, forks, teeth, weights, spare tire/rim and a full set of manuals to the West Holmes building trades for educational purposes; and $910 from the Ohio FFA Foundation, Columbus, for the purchase of FFA Blue Jackets.

—Approved the employment of certified/classified personnel as substitutes.

—Approved a classified supplemental contract for Nicole Davis, compliance coordinator.

—Approved the resignation of Nick Houmard.

—Approved the employment of Steve Dickerson and Eric Butcher as certified substitutes.

—Approved the revised substitute salary schedule.

—Approved a revised AE admissions and data secretary job description.

—Approved a new AE compliance coordinator job description.

—Appointed Nancy Hall as Title IX, Section 504 and American Disabilities Act coordinator and compliance officer for the Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District, effective Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2024.

—Approved the 2023-24 professional development guidelines.

Other information

An organization meeting, budget hearing and the regular January board meeting are scheduled for Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.
