Buckeye Career Center Foundation to honor 23 seniors
A select group of Buckeye Career Center seniors is being recognized as recipients of the 2025 Buckeye Career Center Foundation Scholarship. The 23 students will be honored during the annual Buckeye Foundation Awards Ceremony May 7 at Buckeye Career Center.
This year’s scholarship recipients represent 16 career and technical labs and 10 partner schools. Each student will receive a $2,500 scholarship made possible by community contributions. According to Kimberly Hobart Fleming, Buckeye Foundation president and event chair, the scholarships can be used for more than just higher education.
“We are one of a very few scholarships that can be used for tools of their trade or adult vocational education,” Fleming said.
The 2025 scholarship recipients include Benjamin Stoneman, ag and diesel technology, Carrollton; Logan Henry, business and marketing, Conotton Valley; Jacqueline Lopez, business and marketing, Dover; Lora Shaw, business and marketing, Indian Valley; Wayo Calel-Lopez, construction technology, Dover; Cambrielle Baker, cosmetology, Claymont; Ellie Johnson, cosmetology and business and marketing, Garaway; Layla Troyer, cosmetology and business and marketing, Hiland; Ava Conrad, cosmetology and business and marketing, Indian Valley; Mylie Galigher, exercise science, Conotton Valley; Braden Gibb, exercise science, Dover; Ariel Romeo, floral design, Carrollton;
Andria Lab, graphic arts and floral design, Tusky Valley; Alexa Schuler, intro to nursing, Indian Valley; Alyson Perry, intro to nursing, Tusky Valley; Savannah Powell, law enforcement and fire/EMS, Strasburg; Mallory Walton, pharmacy technician, Indian Valley; Hayden Fernandez, Project Lead the Way, Strasburg; Eric Golder, utility lineworker, Indian Valley; Sarah Myers, utility lineworker, Indian Valley; Dawson Shivers, utility lineworker and electrical systems, Indian Valley; Joshua Rhiel, utility lineworker and electrical systems, Carrollton; and Lane Zickel, welding and commercial truck, Newcomerstown.
Park Village Health Care Center will be recognized with the Spotlight Award for its ongoing support of Buckeye Career Center and its students. The company assists in student training and currently employs more than 80 current or former BCC students.
This year’s Alumnus of the Year is Darren Galbraith, founder of North Star Metals and Designer Stone. A 1990 Newcomerstown High School graduate, Galbraith completed the industrial electricity program at Buckeye and continues to support the school by hiring graduates and contributing to student construction projects.
