East Holmes BOE approves several supplemental positions
                        

The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, Feb. 21 at the Central Office.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized the following WKLM Students of the Week: Kalan Miller, Jan. 13-17; Minka Mullet, Jan. 20-24; Kaylee Troyer, Jan. 27-31; Ben Weaver, Feb. 3-7; and Alissa Yoder, Feb. 10-14.

—Approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Kent State University, The University of Akron, Lorain County Community College and Stark State College for the College Credit Plus program for the 2025-26 school year.

—Approved the annual renewal of service with the Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2025-26 programs in athletic tournaments, athletic eligibility and athletic supervision for interscholastic competition in seventh grade through 12th grade.

—Approved the 2025-26 Hiland High and Middle School curriculum guidebook.

—Approved the Resolutions Music in Our Schools Month, sponsored by the National Association of Music Education and the Ohio Music Education Association. The theme for 2025 is “United Through Music.” Youth Art Month (March 2025) is sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association. The theme for 2025 is “Healing Through Color.”

—Approved the adoption of the Special Education Model policies and procedures.

—Approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price Amendment to the construction manager at risk agreement with Hammond Construction.

—Accepted the following resignations: Carolyn Barkman, library aide at Mt. Hope, resigning at the end of the 2024-25 contractual school year; Shannon Olsen, third grade at Berlin, resigning at the end of the 2024-25 contractual school year; and Iva Weaver, head cook at Walnut Creek, retiring at the end of the 2024-25 contractual school year.

—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved rescinding the transfer of Danielle Weaver from secretary at Mt. Hope to superintendent secretary.

—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2024-25 school year to the following classified personnel, pending completion of all requirements: Bruce Baltzly, bus driver, effective Jan. 30.

—Approved Jessica Martell as secretary to the superintendent on an as-needed basis for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year, effective Feb. 18.

—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2025-26 school year to the following classified personnel, pending completion of all requirements: Martell, secretary to the superintendent.

—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2024-25 school year: James Luneborg, Chestnut Ridge and Mt. Hope eighth grade Washington, D.C. trip chaperone; Benjamin Miller, Chestnut Ridge eighth grade Washington, D.C. trip chaperone; Heather Goings, prom banquet adviser; and Cheyanne Mackey, spring play assistant director.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 21 at the Central Office.
