Fairless Board of Education hired Joe Morarity as the head boys basketball coach at the May 21 meeting. He has been employed in the Perry School District at Massillon for the past 15 years coaching basketball. He has served as a varsity assistant, head middle school and youth coach. Superintendent Mike Hearn said Morarity will teach and coach in the high school.

After an executive session, the board took action to suspend the contract of a teacher without pay and fringe benefits, pending final action to terminate the employment contract. Hearn did not elaborate on the matter.

The board passed a resolution to submit to the Stark County auditor to approve millage for the renewal of a 10-year substitute tax levy. The levy currently generated $2.1 million in 2023. There will be no increase in property taxes. The board will act on placing the levy on the November ballot once the auditor responds.
