Gerber approved as head girls tennis coach
The West Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met Monday, May 19 at West Holmes High School for a regular meeting.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Recognized and celebrated the following West Holmes retirees: Charlotte Baird, Cindy Beaumont, Tracy Chance, Will O’Donnell, Carla Lance, Valerie McFadden, Jennifer McCluggage, Lisa Ogi, Dave Rhoades, Brad Snyder, Janet Yoder, Bud Yoder, Jeff Woods and Renee Woods.
—Approved the 2025-26 College Credit Plus intent letters.
—Approved the graduates of the Class of 2025 who have met all the requirements set forth by the West Holmes Board of Education and the State of Ohio.
—Approved the 2025-26 middle school handbook.
—Approved a resolution to rescind prior board action and adopt special education model policies and procedures.
—Approved updating two board policies.
—Approved the Kent State College of Education, Health and Human Services field experience and student teaching agreement.
—Approved a Memorandum of Understanding between West Holmes Local School District Board of Education and the West Holmes Education Association with regard to partial-year service and severance pay.
—Approved a Memorandum of Understanding between The Center for Individual & Family Services Inc. and West Holmes Local Schools for the 2025-26 school year for the as-needed services for ASL should the district’s other interpreter be absent.

—Renewed a classified one-year contract for the following: Sherry Maynard, Traci Strouse and Ryan Zickefoose.
—Approved the following hirings: Austin Brannon, custodian, effective May 19, pending background check; Megan Warne, athletic trainer, effective Aug. 1; Kiana Leppla, director of federal programs and curriculum for the 2025-26 school year with five extended days in the 2024-25 school year; and Malinda Johnson, intervention specialist, effective Aug. 15.
—Approved the following as a substitute: Brenna Myers, nondegree teacher, effective April 30.
—Approved the following retirements: Charlotte Baird, teacher, effective May 31; Lisa Ogi, teacher, effective May 31; Jennifer McCluggage, teacher, effective May 31; and Janet Yoder, teacher, effective June 1.

Other information
Millersburg Elementary thanked those who anonymously donated $404.50 to the Millersburg cafeteria for student lunch accounts.
West Holmes Local Schools thanked Jessica McConville for her donations of cupcakes for district K-2 teachers.
