Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative Inc. is reminding area high school students applications are being accepted for its 2023 scholarship program. The member-owned electric utility will award 10 area graduating seniors pursuing higher education a total of $20,200 in scholarships.

“Concern for our community is essential to who we are as a cooperative. We serve our community, not only by being an essential service, but by helping to power our local economy. Whether through volunteering, donating to local causes or promoting our local youth development, we invest in our corner of the world because it’s our home too,” Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative President/CEO Glenn Miller said.

The cooperative encourages all eligible students to apply. The contest is open to high school seniors who have a GPA of 3.6 or better on a 4.0 scale, will attend an accredited institution of higher learning, and whose parents or guardians are members of and live in a home served by the Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative.

Applications and a complete set of rules for the scholarship competition are at www.hwecoop.com. The deadline for completed applications to be returned to the cooperative is Jan. 20.
