The Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winner of the 2010 Educator of the Year. A committee of past recipients and community leaders made the selection.
Jackie Rae Putnam has been chosen as the Educator of the Year. Tuscarawas Chamber President, Don E. Hoffman, commented, Jackie Putnam has been teaching preschool typical and non-typical students at Starlight School for the past 30 years. Over the years she has touched the lives of many students and their families. Jackie can still often be seen in the mall or on the street talking to one of the former students upon whose life she has made a positive impact. One of the advocates for her nomination stated, There is such a sense of compassion and camaraderie in her classroom. Jackie does an amazing job instilling these values into her students.
Jackie Putnam was chosen from a very large competition of nominees. Hoffman would like to thank all the parents, former students, and coworkers who nominated exemplary educators throughout our communities and especially say, Thank you to the educators who give of themselves everyday as positive role models to the youth of Tuscarawas County.

The prestigious award winner will be honored at the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce 52nd Annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas.
