Klink elected president of East Holmes BOE
                        

The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, Jan. 10 at the Central Office.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Recognized the following WKLM Student of the Week: Kailyn Miller, Jan. 6-10.

—Approved calendar draft No. 3 for the 2025-26 school year.

—Approved four NEOLA policies: Special Release — November 2024.

—Approved a resolution authorizing Frantz Law Group APLC and Peters Kalail & Markakis Co. LPA to jointly represent East Holmes Local Schools in litigation against diabetes medication manufacturers and pharmacy benefit managers and to enter an attorney-client fee contract for legal representation.

—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved a change in retirement dates for the following: Diane Duarte, retiring effective July 1, and Karen Welling, retiring effective July 1.

—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2024-25 school year to the following classified personnel: Alicia Ward, aide at Berlin, effective Jan. 9.

—Approved the transfer of Danielle Weaver from secretary at Mt. Hope to superintendent secretary, effective April 1.

—Approved the following placement on the certified salary schedule, effective Feb. 1: Mary “Macy” Lautenschleger to Masters+20.

Other information

An organizational meeting and a tax budget hearing took place before the regular meeting.

During the organizational meeting, Julia Klink was elected president and Laurel Miller was elected vice president of the East Holmes BOE.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 21 at the Central Office.
