Buckeye Career Center has named the March Student of the Month recipients. One high school student was selected for demonstrating this month’s core value of servant leadership. One adult education student also was chosen for the honor.

The High School Student of the Month is Laticia Ditto, a New Philadelphia senior and double lab student enrolled in early childhood education and floral design. Ditto is employed by Arby’s, is a two-year Drug Free Clubs of America member, is the FFA club reporter and has been involved in FCCLA at BCC for two years.

In her spare time, Ditto enjoys being with her family members. She was nominated by her floral design instructor, Sharon Burdette.

“She has a positive attitude and inspires others. Laticia is reliable, honest, and shows courtesy and concern for others. She maintains good grades and attendance while double labbing,” Burdette said.

After graduation Ditto plans to attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University to major in social work.

The Adult Education Student of the Month is medical assisting AM student Micah Busby of Bowerston. Busby is a Conotton Valley graduate and has volunteered for Community Hospice. She enrolled in medical assisting after taking the high school intro to nursing program at BCC. Her instructor, Sandy Moss, nominated her for the honor.

“Micah is an excellent student with 100% attendance. She is dedicated and will make a great medical assistant,” Moss said.

Upon graduation in May, Busby hopes to become a certified medical assistant and work in an OBGYN office.

The students were recognized by the Buckeye Career Center Board of Education at the board’s March meeting. They also will receive commemorative wooden plaques, crafted by graphic arts and construction technology students.
