The Wooster City School District announced Molly Richard has been named the new principal at Kean Elementary School.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the children and families at both Cornerstone and Melrose Elementary,” Richard said. “I am excited to continue my educational journey at Kean Elementary and look forward to making a positive impact on the community for the future of Wooster City Schools.”

Richard began her career with the Wooster City School District in 2014 as a preschool teacher. Since then she has held a number of positions within the district including literacy coach, assistant principal for Cornerstone Elementary and most recently interim principal for Melrose Elementary. Since 2015 she has served as a member of the district’s Literacy Committee.

Prior to joining the Wooster City School District, Richard held teaching positions at schools in Los Angeles, Chicago and New Jersey.

Richard received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts in education from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She also earned her principal licensure from the University of Cincinnati College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services in Cincinnati.

“We were really pleased with the candidate pool of 45 applicants for this position,” Superintendent Dr. Michael Tefs said. “We are even more pleased and excited that our very own Molly Richard earned this leadership role. We are happy for the Kean community.”

A meet-and-greet event will be held for Kean Elementary families to meet Richard at a later date. Updates will be provided to families as details are confirmed.
