Scholarships available for nontraditional students

                        
The Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF) is accepting applications for a number of scholarships established to benefit nontraditional students from the Wayne County area. Details on each scholarship and application information are available by contacting WCCF at 330-262-3877 or download online at http://www.waynecountycommunityfoundation.org. As dates vary, for information about application deadlines, call or check the WCCF website. Several scholarships are available for those entering the health care field. The Carlos Appleman Scholarship awards an annual $5,000 scholarship to Wayne County residents who are enrolled in the Wayne County Schools Career Center (WCSCC) or participating WCSCC program, acquiring the skills to become an LPN, RN or nurse practitioner. The Wallace and Catherine Lytle Family Scholarship provides a $2,000 scholarship to a Wayne County resident pursuing a degree as a LPN, RN, speech, physical or occupational therapist. Additional scholarships for the medical field are available through the Julie and David Mennes Healthcare Scholarship, the Sprenger Health Care Scholarship, and the Wayne County Nursing Consortium Memorial Scholarship. The John W. Landis Scholarship provides $3,500 to a Wayne County resident furthering his or her education in the fields of agriculture, horticulture, home and farm economics, animal husbandry, soil and water conservation or forestry. Additional scholarships are available in the same fields of study through the Lillian Long PEO, Chapter AP, Scholarship and the Clinton E. Missler Agri-Scholarship. The Wayne County Community Foundation also manages a number of other scholarships for nontraditional students following specific fields of interest. The AAUW Wooster Branch Scholarship is available to women residing in Wayne County whose education has been interrupted, while the Zody Miller Scholarship is open to any Wooster High School graduate whose post high school education was interrupted and has not yet earned their degree. The Edgar G. Garvin Scholarship is open to a Wayne County graduate attending Ohio University and enrolled in a course of study leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree in teaching. The Wayne County Bar Association Scholarship and the F. Emerson Logee Memorial Law Scholarship are open to a Wayne County High School graduate who has been accepted and is planning to attend an accredited law school. Additional scholarships are available for Boy Scouts who have reached either the Eagle Scout or Life Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America, students continuing education in industrial arts technology or related field, students studying engineering, those pursuing a field of study in special education or developmental disabilities or attendees of OSU-ATI. The Aharon Woodruff Scholarship will award two scholarships in the amount of $5,000 to Wayne County residents under the age of 70 and a current patient diagnosed with a critical or chronic life threatening disease or illness.
