City of Wooster Municipal Building bomb threat halts city
At 5:30 p.m., the Wooster Police Department declared there was no bomb at the municipal building. The threat was a hoax.
Earlier in the day, at 2:09 p.m., Wayne County Justice Center Dispatch received a bomb threat on The City of Wooster Municipal building located at 538 N. Market Street.
Upon receipt of the call, the Wooster Police Department took immediate action in evacuating the building and shutting down Market Street, which runs directly in front of the building. Adjacent homes and buildings were also evacuated as a precaution.
Wooster City Schools were notified so that Cornerstone Elementary could take appropriate action for dismissal.
Explosive sniffing canine units from the University of Akron and the Summit County Sheriffs Department were contacted to offer assistance.
