Walnut Hills’ ‘Creativity is Timeless’ senior art exhibit winners named
                        
More than 250 people visited the “Creativity is Timeless” exhibit held recently at Walnut Hills Retirement Community. The exhibit, held Aug. 27, featured 86 pieces of artwork that were submitted by 44 different Holmes County area residents who are over the age of 55. Best of Show was awarded to Martha Schrock of Millersburg for her quilt entry titled “Appliqué Birds.” The People’s Choice Award, which was voted on by visitors to the exhibit, also was given to Schrock for her quilt. Winners in the seven individual categories were as follows: Clyde K. Metheny of Millersburg received the first place ribbon in the paintings and drawings category, Andrene Bell of Dundee took second and third place, and Larry Yoder of Sugarcreek took fourth place. Bill Jennings of Walnut Creek was awarded first place in the woodworking category, Rachel Kaufmann of Berlin took second place, Bill Kobel of Walnut Creek took third place and Jr. Troyer of Millersburg took fourth place. Jim Flynn of Millersburg received first place in the hard crafts category, George Bender of Walnut Creek earned the second place ribbon and Jr. Troyer of Millersburg took third place. Martha Schrock of Millersburg received the first place ribbon in the quilts and wall hangings category, Cynthia Denlinger of Millersburg took second place, Judith Stephens of Walnut Creek took third place and Lois Basinger of Walnut Creek took fourth place. Eileen J. Kobel of Walnut Creek took first place in the soft crafts category, Janice Heiser of Walnut Creek took second place, V. Joan Conway of Walnut Creek took third place and Jean Flinner of Walnut Creek took fourth place. Bruce Stambaugh of Millersburg took first place in the photography category, Randy Starner of Sugarcreek took second place, Arlan Heiser of Walnut Creek took third place and Donald Smith of Walnut Creek took fourth place. Mary Jane Nobel of Walnut Creek received the first place ribbon in the miscellaneous category, Lela Reining of Walnut Creek took second place, Juanita E. Schubert of Walnut Creek took third place and Peggy L. Becker of Walnut Creek took fourth place. The award winners were announced at a reception for the artists and their guests held on the evening of Aug. 26 at Walnut Hills. “Creativity is Timeless” is an annual art show sponsored by Walnut Hills to help celebrate the creativity and imagination of individuals who are 55 and older.
