Celebrating a special milestone for Lizzie Yoder, 106

Lizzie (Yoder) Yoder was born on March 4, 1904 in Johnstown, Pa. to Valentine and Julianne Yoder. She was the youngest of four children. Lizzie had two brothers and a sister and they lived on a farm. A special celebration for Lizzie will be held March 4, at 2 p.m. at Shady Lawn in Dalton. In 1927 Lizzie married Elmer Yoder, who died in 1982. They were married for 55 years. Elmer was an ordained pastor and the couple was very involved with their church. She is a member of the Pleasant View Mennonite church in North Lawrence. Lizzie and Elmer had four children, Carl (Martha Diller) from Archbold; Rhoda (Bob) Hartman of Kidron; Charles (Janet Ressler) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Sanford (Marcella Gerber) of Kidron. She has nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Family, residents, staff an friends of Lizzie will celebrate her 106th birthday in the Dogwood TV room at Shady Lawn Health Care Community, 15028 Old Lincoln Way East, Dalton, with refreshments and a large cake. An open house will start at 2 p.m.
