DiDonato selected as recorder candidate
The Tuscarawas County Democratic Party Central Committee met May 7 for the purpose of selecting a candidate for the general elections ballot for the office of recorder to replace Samuel Hitchcock, who withdrew his candidacy from the county recorder’s race in the general election. Following the presentations from applicants David DiDonato, Kent Watson and Kristine Simpson, DiDonato was selected to be the Democratic candidate for county recorder in the Nov. 5 election.
DiDonato is known throughout Tuscarawas County, having served as a teacher, principal, dean of students, athletic director and coach over a 47-year career. His years in coaching were in both football and baseball. He graduated from Dennison St. Mary’s High School in 1969 and continued his education at the University of Akron, where he earned his BA in 1974. He received his MA in Educational Administration in 1984 from the University of Dayton.
“I look forward to building upon the successful foundation of work our retiring county recorder Lori Smith has established, and I am ready to work with the office staff to continue modernizing the various record-keeping responsibilities of the recorder’s office,” DiDonato said.
DiDonato and his wife Jeanne reside in New Philadelphia.
