The Tuscarawas County Health Department recently released its 2022 annual report, which highlights the department’s public health activities to prevent the spread of disease, promote healthy behaviors and protect the Tuscarawas County environment.

Noteworthy statistics from the report include 134 car or booster seats provided for area families, 897 food service inspections completed, 5,262 medical appointments conducted, 5,574 birth and death certificates issues, 28.09 tons of scrap tires or approximately 3,100 tires collected, and $1,991,609 in grant funds applied for and received.

In addition to details about each health department service bureau, the annual report notes 1,110 registered births in Tuscarawas County residents and 1,255 registered deaths. The report also lists the top five causes of death and includes numerous pictures and statistics regarding TCHD services and activities.

“Our 2022 annual report provides a comprehensive summary of the health department’s accomplishments,” said Katie Seward, MPH, CHES, Tuscarawas County health commissioner. “During the past year, we implemented initiatives in response to community need by expanding our hours to 6 p.m. on Thursdays and partnering with Twin City Medical Center to add a Dennison location for WIC services.

“I am especially grateful to the community for voting to pass our 1 mill renewal levy in November, and I cannot say enough to thank our hard-working staff who make our progress possible. We remain dedicated to serving this community through the provision of quality public health programs and services to prevent injuries, promote healthy behaviors and protect the environment.”
