Pomerene Hospital recently announced a donation of a new minivan by the Pomerene Hospital Auxiliary to the hospital’s transportation services department. This vehicle will be used to support the hospital’s free transportation service, which provides transportation for members of the local community.

This program helps ensure patients can easily travel to and from Pomerene Hospital and Pomerene physician offices for medical appointments, treatments and procedures.

The donation comes at a perfect time, as the current hospital transportation vehicles are aging and in need of replacement. With rising demand for the service and the increasing maintenance needs of the older vans, the new minivan is a needed addition that will help maintain safety, reliability and comfort for riders.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Pomerene Hospital Auxiliary,” said Laura Bishop, transportation and Amish services coordinator. “Their generous contribution helps us to better serve our community.”

The transportation service, which has been in place for several years, has become an important part of the hospital’s outreach efforts. The addition of the new vehicle ensures the program can continue to meet growing demand while enhancing safety, comfort and efficiency for riders.

The Pomerene Hospital Auxiliary was organized in 1972 to assist the hospital with its mission of “Caring for Our Community’s Health,” as well as provide volunteer services and conduct fundraising activities. Its donation is part of a continued effort to uplift patient care and support initiatives that directly impact the local community.
