Research has shown the number of children obtaining the recommended vaccinations has declined during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Tuscarawas County Health Department is offering a full week of special vaccination appointments from July 6-9 to help area parents and caregivers meet the health-care needs of their children.

Now is a good time for children entering kindergarten, seventh grade and 12th grade to get their required vaccinations for back to school.

“While we are understandably all very concerned about the pandemic, we need to also remember the dangers that other communicable diseases like measles and whooping cough can have on children,” Angie Frantz of the Tuscarawas County Health Department said. “Getting your child’s vaccinations on time can help protect them from 15 vaccine-preventable diseases. We provide vaccinations year round here at the health department, but we wanted to offer this special week of appointments to really focus on helping area families get up to date.”
