Dover Public Library often partners with local health organizations to offer services to the community. On Friday, May 10, the library will host a blood screening and community blood drive.

Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital will offer an A1C screening from 9-11 a.m. This nonfasting fingerstick screening test measures average blood sugar over the past two to three months and allows people to better manage their blood sugar level, which is key in reducing health complications of diabetes. The cost is $5. To register, call the hospital at 330-602-0779.

From noon to 3 p.m., Vitalant will conduct a blood drive because every two seconds a hospital patient needs a lifesaving blood transfusion. All donors will be entered into Vitalant’s Donate for Mothers Giveaway for a chance to win an $83 gift card, redeemable via the Donor Rewards Program. Eat before you donate. Bring a photo ID and a list of any medications you take. Appointments are preferred. To make an appointment and earn reward points, visit www.vitalant.org and search with Blood Drive Code: U5051.

The library is located at 525 N. Walnut St. in Dover.
