Discover New Trails at the Library

The summer reading program is from June 5 through July 22.There are reading programs for all ages and chances to win prizes. Registration will begin May 30 at the Central Library or East Branch Library.

Summer Reading Kickoff

Sign up for summer reading on Friday, June 2 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, with hot dogs, chips and a drink provided, as well as a scavenger hunt, a story walk and a bike rodeo. See Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

June Craft Kit for Kids

Pick up a themed kit focusing on self-sufficiency at the Central Library or East Branch Library. Choose between a nature journaling kit or a productivity journaling kit.

Story times

Bring your family for all-ages story times with a nature theme at the East Branch Library on Wednesdays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 10:30 a.m.

For kids age 2-5 with an adult, there will be story times at the Central Library on Fridays, June 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Little Learners Playgroup

Kids up to age 5, with an adult, will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills at the Central Library on Fridays, June 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 11 a.m. to noon. Snacks are provided.

Trouble on the Trail: A Paws to Read Mystery

School-age youth up to age 14 will learn about hiking safety, watch a search and tracking demonstration, make a sun visor, and read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines at the Central Library on Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Under the Stars

School-age youth up to age 15 will explore nature at night, make a star chart, find real-time planetary objects and learn about the adaptations of nighttime animals at the Central Library on Wednesday, June 14 at 11 a.m. Registration is required.

Local author visit and book-signing

Jackie Deems, author of “Beside Still Waters,” will share her work and be available to sign books at the Central Library on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Picnic and Potluck Pleasers with Kate

The event will be at the Central Library on Tuesday, June 20 at 6 p.m. Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension services educator, will offer picnic and potluck pleasers. Registration is required.

Just Wing It

School-age youth up to age 15 will explore the world of flying animals through hands-on experiments at the Central Library on Wednesday, June 21 at 11 a.m. Registration is required.

Book Discussion for Adults

The event will be Tuesday, June 27 discussing “The Measure” by Nikki Erlick at the Central Library at 1 p.m. and also “The Mitford Affair” by Marie Benedict at 6 p.m. at Jitters Coffee House in Millersburg. Books are available to borrow at the Central Library.

Let’s Rock

School-age youth up to age 15 will learn about rocks, crack open a geode and paint a rock to take home at the Central Library on Wednesday, June 28 at 11 a.m. Registration is required.
