Under a federal appropriation from Congress to the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program, Tuscarawas County has been allocated funding under phase 41 to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

For phase 41 Tuscarawas County has been awarded $36,505. This award is based on the county’s total number of unemployed as compared to the total number of unemployed in all qualifying jurisdictions. The national board will allow LROs to charge eligible, properly documented expenditures back to the beginning date of Oct. 1, 2022.

The local Tuscarawas County EFSP board will meet to review applications and determine recipients of the funding. Per national guidelines, the local board is composed of representatives from the following: American Red Cross, GuideStone of OH, HARCATUS, Job & Family Services, OSU Extension Services, Salvation Army, Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community, Twin City Christian Service Center, United Way of Tuscarawas County, and representatives from various religious communities.

Under terms of the grant from the national board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government, be eligible to receive federal funds, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have a DUNS number and a valid email address, demonstrate the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and have a voluntary board if they are a private voluntary organization. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.

Any public or private agency wishing to receive an application and be considered for funding must call or email local board chairperson Leslie Booth at 330-343-6012 or director@t4conline.net. More information also is available by going to the EFSP website at www.efsp.unitedway.org.

The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, May 2 by 3:30 p.m. All applicants must be available to present their application in person that morning when the local board meets to determine recipients. Information about meeting will follow application.
