Summer Food Service Program, also known as the Summer Meals Program, provides kids and teens in low-income areas free meals when school is out.

                        

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program, also known as the Summer Meals Program, provides kids and teens in low-income areas free meals when school is out.

The program is a federally funded, state-administered program. It provides free, healthy meals to children and teens during the summer months when school is out.

For summer 2019, Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action will sponsor the Summer Food Service Program in Holmes County. There is no sign-up required. Lunch for kids 18 and under will be provided free all summer at four locations from June 18 through Aug. 1.

Meals will be available at the following locations and times:Glenwood Apartments Clubhouse, 101 Lakeview Drive 69, Millersburg, from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; Autumn Run Apartments, 4372 CR 58, Millersburg, from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; Killbuck First Church of Christ Pavilion, 180 S. Railroad St., Killbuck, from 12:15-12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; and Holmes County Public Library, 3102 Glen Drive, Millersburg, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday only.

Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action is partnering with the Holmes County Department of Job and Family Services Summer Youth Employment Program to provide these meals. Additional community partners are welcome to attend and provide activities for children after the meal service at any of the four locations.
