LPL event to reveal the work of Friends group
Join the Friends of the Loudonville Library Monday, May 5 at 2 p.m. for a behind-the-scenes look at how the Friends group transforms donated books and other materials into funds that support the library.
Attendees will learn what types of items can be donated and how to donate them. The role of the adult services librarian and the process of removing books from the library collection also will be discussed. Materials that cannot be used are shared through partner agencies to promote reading in the community.
The event will include a look inside the Friends Storage Room, where sorting, cleaning and boxing of donated items takes place. Stories of unusual or curious items found in donated books also will be shared.
Participants will be able to assist with inspecting, cleaning and sorting materials. Refreshments will be provided, along with time to chat with Friends volunteers.
This program will be held in the library’s lower-level meeting room.
