The League of Women Voters of Tuscarawas County, as part of its voter service efforts, invites candidates in certain races and voters in those districts to three Meet the Candidates opportunities in New Philadelphia, Uhrichsville, and Dover ahead of the General Election Nov. 7 and prior to the start of early voting Oct. 11. Additionally, the League requests the assistance of all General Election candidates in completing a voter guide for distribution in early October.

The New Philadelphia Meet the Candidates event will take place at the Tuscora Park Pavilion located at 161 Tuscora Ave. in New Philadelphia Monday, Sept. 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and invites candidates running for New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education to interact with their prospective constituents.

The Uhrichsville event will take place at the Uhrichsville Elks Lodge #424 located at 324 N. Uhrich St. in Uhrichsville Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and will invite candidates for mayor and city council of Uhrichsville in addition to candidates for Claymont City School District Board of Education.

The Dover event will take place at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center located at 425 Prospect St. in Dover Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and will invite candidates for mayor and city council in Dover.

All three candidate events will be conducted in the style of speed dating, as each participating candidate will be given a table to sit at and have a brief period of time to introduce themselves to a small group of voters. After a few minutes, a bell will ring and the participating voters will move on to the next table.

All Tuscarawas County candidates with valid petitions for the November election are invited to participate in the league’s voter guide. Letters will be mailed to the addresses provided to the Board of Elections no later than Sept. 13. Any candidate who does not receive a letter, or who wishes to receive their letter and questionnaire electronically, is asked to email tuscleagueofwomenvoters@gmail.com to request it.

The league would also like to remind voters to check their voter registration at voteohio.gov before Oct. 10 to ensure they are eligible to vote in the November election.
