JADE Families, a new local nonprofit started last year, will host its first fundraiser, a trivia night, on April 13 at Parkview Christian Church, 1912 Burbank Road, Wooster.

At the event teams of four will compete for a $500 prize while helping support adults with special needs. The cost is $100 per team of four, with refreshments provided. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and play will begin at 6:30 p.m.

JADE Families is a group started to support adults with special needs and their families. GEMs (God’s exceptional masterpieces) have few social and limited work opportunities in any community. The nonprofit has been providing them with one social event each month and would like to continue these while expanding the number of opportunities. JADE also is looking to expand into functional life skills and work skills training while working in conjunction with EJ Therapy Services.

There also will be a raffle at the April 13 event, with tickets sold that night.

JADE Families also is seeking sponsors for the April 13 event and its other activities. All proceeds will go toward future events for adults with special needs. For questions or more information, email info@jadefamilies.org.
