The Tuscarawas County Anti-Drug Coalition announced a new website, www.adctusc.org/, which is designed to bring awareness to local prevention efforts while also providing resources and information.

The new website focuses on the four substance-use priorities for the coalition: alcohol, prescription drugs, tobacco and marijuana, the identified substances where kids are initiating.

Each page offers local statistics, resource links and downloads, and takeaway tips that parents and guardians can directly apply at home and in the community in the effort of prevention.

“We wanted a central location for parents, guardians and all community members to be able to find valuable resources and information related to local prevention efforts,” said Jodi Salvo, ADC coordinator. “Not only can the community find applicable tips and recommendations on the new website, they can also learn and develop a better understanding of the issues we face here in Tuscarawas County.”

In addition to offering a better understanding of the negative impact these substances have on youth, the new website also highlights local efforts such as the faith-based focus and youth-to-youth, among others.

The new website also brings awareness to the resources available from agencies and organizations and hotlines for those seeking help.

The ADC also has added a special element to the new website that breaks down the slang words often associated with substance use.

“We want to empower our community,” Salvo said. “By knowing the language associated with these dangerous behaviors, we can be swift in our action to deter our youth from participating.”

Those motivated to be a part of the work of the ADC also are encouraged to visit the website. There is now an interactive feature that allows volunteers to sign up to help with efforts that interest them.

The website will continue to evolve with new information added when relevant.
