Ohio’s Hospice holding bereavement camp for children
Ohio’s Hospice is inviting families in the community to register their children for Camp Waves of Emotion, a free four-day grief and bereavement camp designed to support children age 7-12 who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling or significant loved one. The camp will take place from Tuesday, July 30 through Friday, Aug. 2 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
During Camp Waves of Emotion, children will have the opportunity to engage in therapeutic activities led by trained bereavement counseling professionals and staff. Through art, music, play and a specially designed grief curriculum, the camp aims to assist children in identifying and expressing their unspoken feelings and processing their grief in a supportive environment.
“Losing a loved one can be incredibly difficult for children, and we want to provide them with the tools and support they need to navigate their grief journey,” a spokesperson for Ohio’s Hospice said. “Camp Waves of Emotion offers a safe space for children to connect with others who have experienced similar losses and learn healthy ways to cope with their emotions.”
Thanks to the community’s generosity, Ohio’s Hospice can offer Camp Waves of Emotion at no cost to participants. The camp is provided through Pathways of Hope, a grief support program offered by Ohio’s Hospice. Pathways of Hope provides various services to the communities served by Ohio’s Hospice including grief support programs that are available free of charge to anyone in the community, regardless of whether they have received hospice services.
Registration for Camp Waves of Emotion is required, and families are encouraged to contact Ohio’s Hospice for more information.
To register, email PathwaysOfHope@LifeCareHospice.org or call 330-264-4899. Include your name, your phone number, and the name and date of the event.
The camp will be held at Ohio’s Hospice Marilyn B. And Mark E. Gustafson Center for Supportive Care, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster.
