Orrville Area United Way awards $30k in local grants
                        

Orrville Area United Way recently announced the recipients of its Further Together Grant, a special funding opportunity created to reinforce investment in local nonprofits, strengthen community connections, and help make a greater impact across Dalton, Marshallville and Orrville.

The grant drew strong interest, with 18 eligible proposals and more than $120,000 in total requests. With $30,000 available to award, the Citizen Review Committee, made up of volunteers from each of the three communities, engaged in a discussion to determine how to direct the funds.

Grant recipients include the following:

—Aultman Orrville Serenity: $5,795 for a forensic camera to support court-admissible evidence in trauma-informed care settings.

—Children’s Advocacy Center: $1,013.88 for furniture to furnish a forensic interview room.

—Friendship Meals: $1,300 to purchase a commercial-grade freezer for weekly hot meal service.

—Heartland Community Group: $2,000 to support transitional housing for young adults aging out of foster care.

—OHuddle: $1,000 to sustain mentorship programming at Orrville Schools and the Wayne County Schools Career Center.

—The Salvation Army Orrville-Maiwurm Service Center: $1,460 to purchase a multilingual translation device.

—Viola Startzman Clinic: $12,500 to provide youth physicals and dental care in partnership with the Orrville Area Boys & Girls Club.

—YMCA of Wayne County: $5,000 for startup supplies to launch new before and after school programming in Dalton this August.

The next opportunity to apply for funding will be the 2026 Sustaining Grant. Applications will be accepted Aug. 6 through Sept. 5. To be eligible, an agency representative must attend the grant release meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Orrville Area United Way.
