Members of the public are invited to a free tour of the May 4th Visitors Center and Historic Site at Kent State University in Kent on Friday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. as part of the 2022 Tuscarawas County One Book, One Community project.

The featured book for 2022 is “Kent State” by Deborah Wiles, which is an exploration of the events of May 4, 1970, when American troops killed four students protesting the Vietnam War at Kent State University.

The Visitors Center is located in Taylor Hall and contains a permanent exhibition of the student anti-war movement, historic artifacts and film about the events of May 4, 1970, featuring interviews with some of the participants and students who were wounded on that day.

Outside the May 4th Visitors Center, participants can take a tour of the 18-acre site, recently designated as a National Historic Landmark.
