The Canal Town Book Festival, a literary project of the Dover Public Library, will be held Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27.

Award-winning mystery writer and former crime reporter Robin Yocum will begin the festivities on Friday at 6 p.m. Signed books will be available for purchase following Yocum’s talk. Musical entertainment will be provided by classical guitarist Steve Miller. Light refreshments will be served.

Yocum and over 30 local and regional authors will be present on the square at the corner of West Third Street and North Wooster Avenue on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Authors will be available to meet the public, discuss writing and publishing, and sell and sign books. There will be an area for children’s activities including a photo op and live reptiles. Visitors to the book festival can sign up for raffle baskets. A complete listing of events and authors can be found at www.doverlibrary.org.

Because the library’s book festival is in conjunction with the Dover Exchange Club’s Canal Dover Festival, there also will be food, entertainment, games and rides.

“This is a great opportunity for members of the community to meet writers, talk about writing and to pick up an autographed book,” said Mallory Thompson, planning committee chair and head of the adult department at the Dover Public Library. “The authors write in a variety of genres, from mystery, to memoir, to children’s books and more.”

Sponsors for the event include The Bibliophile Bookshop, Cleveland Clinic, Leaping Lizards, Friends of the Dover Public Library and the Dover Public Library.
