A Strasburg softball celebration will be held at Strasburg Franklin Park on July 29 at the varsity softball field. Donations will be accepted when those attending enter the park.

The event will kick off with a home run derby at 2 p.m. Registration is $5, and anyone can enter. There also will be a Can You Hit a State Champion event. High school pitchers will pitch to the participants. The cost is $1 for one pitch or $5 for six pitches.

There will be an alumnus vs. alumni game at 4:30 p.m. Introductions will begin at 4 p.m.

The concession stand will be open, and a silent auction will be held with specific signs made by Paul Reiger, a wreath by Meggan Andreas, a Meraki basket and an array of other items. A 50/50 drawing will be held during the alumni game.

Also, Bull’s Eye Axe Throwing with the Peters family will have a trailer set up.

Tickets are available for a 700 Willandale EZGO golf cart. Tickets are $20 and available from any softball player or at the Willandale Parts Department on Wooster Avenue.

The Lady Tigers won their ninth state softball championship on June 3 by defeating Hopewell-Louden 8-2 and beating Gibsonburg in the semi-finals. They also were crowned champions in 2022.

This was the team’s 18th trip to the state finals. They also won back-to-back championships in 1987 and 1988.

All funds raised will be donated to the high school softball program. The alumni have planned a social after the game at Gameday Grill, located between the traffic lights on Wooster Avenue.
