Township seeking bids for used truck
                        

Lawrence Township trustees agreed at their April 10 board meeting to attempt selling a used 2011 Ford F-250 truck. The township has purchased a new truck to replace it. Sealed bids with a minimum $3,000 offer should be sent to the township office at 10867 Industrial Parkway NW, Bolivar, Ohio 44612. Bids will be opened at the May 8 trustees meeting.

Road repairs approved

Road Superintendent Perry Myers presented trustees with his proposed chip and seal areas, which include 6.7 miles of road on Eberhart, Kendle and Glenpark roads. Trustees approved an expenditure not to exceed $25,000 for materials to be purchased from Massillon Materials.

Myers also asked to purchase 525 tons of road salt for the winter through the Ohio Department of Transportation. Trustees approved the request

In other road department matters, reported on ditching, mowing, and berming work and said the grader has been repaired and returned.

Fire contract signed

Fiscal Officer Ackerman reported that a fire contract for 2025 has been signed by all parties, including the villages of Bolivar and Zoar.

Zoning

Zoning Inspector Ton Weekley said the Zoning Commission agreed to change the required 10-day approval period for zoning permits to 30 days. Weekley will have an emergency resolution prepared for approval by trustees. The request to change the time period was made by Chairman Mike Haueter at the March 27 board meeting.

Trustee Matt Ritterbeck asked Weekley to talk to a local business about over-posting of temporary signs as advertisements.

Other matters

Bolivar Fire Chief Shawn Lynch asked for verification on access to the new Lawver Construction building being built on the corner of Kerns Drive and state Route 212. He was informed that vehicles will be entering the building’s parking lot from Kerns Drive.

Residents wishing to opt in to the township electric aggregate program may call the township office at 330-874-2731 for sign-up instructions.

Mike Penso, representing the Tusky Valley Baseball Softball Association said the group is repairing their storage sheds on township property and that they have added fence toppers at the ball fields.

The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees meet the second and last Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Charles E. Lundenberger Hall, 10867 Industrial Parkway NW in Bolivar. All meetings are open to the public.
