Universal changing tables create more inclusive spaces
The Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities will partner with local parks to install universal changing tables for adults and children with disabilities. Made possible through an American Rescue Plan Act grant fund from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, these installations aim to enhance accessibility and inclusivity within the community.
The collaboration between TuscBDD and Dover and Tuscora Parks demonstrates a shared commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families. The universal changing tables will provide an environment for individuals who require assistance with personal care needs.
The universal changing tables at Dover Park will be located in both pool houses and restrooms near the baseball fields and concession area. The changing table at Tuscora Park will be located inside the Park Place Youth Center. Installation is underway, and the goal is for the changing spaces to be operational within the next few weeks.
“We are excited to partner with our local parks to make this important initiative a reality,” said Nate Kamban, TuscBDD superintendent. “These universal changing tables represent a significant step toward creating more inclusive spaces where everyone can participate fully in community life.”
