WCPL main branch offering adult programs
The Wayne County Public Library's main branch in Wooster will offer the following programs for adults in the coming weeks:
Monday Night Book Club
Join on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. to discuss one of many recently highly acclaimed books, both fiction and nonfiction. July's meeting will be in meeting room two and August's meeting in meeting room one. On July 17 "The Monsters We Defy" by Leslye Penelope will be discussed. On Aug. 21 "Remember: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting" by Lisa Genova will be discussed.
Walking with Tech: Apps for Listening While Walking
Join at Wooster Memorial Park's Kenwood Trail Loop on Wednesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. While hiking, participants will learn about apps that can be used to listen to music or audiobooks. Featured apps include Hoopla, Libby and Pandora. The hike is .8 miles. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing and bring your own water.
Ghosts of the Civil War: Shades of Blue and Gray
On Thursday, July 20 from 6-7:45 p.m. in the library conference room, featuring Largely Literary Theater Company co-founders Sara Showman (from the South) and Mark Dawidziak (from the North), Ghosts of the Civil War: Shades of Blue and Gray will examine the war between the states with a mixture of tales, literary selections, songs and history. Registration is required.
Click 'n Stitch
Click 'n Stitch is a crafting group that knits, crochets, cross stitches and more. Bring your own materials or borrow some of the library's materials. The group will meet in the conference room on Tuesday, July 25 and Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m.
Spice It Up Club
Join at the end of the month to share recipes. There will be food/activities at every meeting. Registration is required. The club will meet in meeting room two on Tuesday, July 25 from 7-8 p.m. to discuss fresh basil. Kit pickup is underway. On Tuesday, Aug. 29, the club will discuss fresh sage. Kit pickup will start Aug. 1.
Don’t Be a Couch Potato Aerobics
Join Don’t Be a Couch Potato Aerobics for a walking workout that equals approximately 2 miles. Wear comfy shoes and clothes. Registration is required. Sessions will take place Mondays, July 17 and Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. The August session will be held at the Recreation and Community Center, 241 S. Bever St., Wooster.
