The Wooster Music Club met Dec. 3 at Wooster United Methodist Church with Vice President Louie Miller welcoming members and guests.

Opening the program was Amelia Claes, who is a student of Myra Leeper and a recipient of The Vera Dilgard Legacy Award. Claes performed “Fum, Fum, Fum,” a Spanish carol arranged by Nancy and Randall Faber. Her father Randy Claes then joined her for a duet of “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin.

Next on the program were several jazzy Christmas tunes. Dave Hider (electric bass) and Stephanie Musselman (piano) performed “The Christmas Song” by Mel Torme and Robert Wells and “O Tannenbaum” by Vince Guaraldi.

Eric Fairhurst (saxophone) and Andy Carey (acoustic guitar) continued the jazzy Christmas music theme with “Christmastime Is Here” by Vince Guaraldi, “God Rest Ye, Merry Gentleman,” a traditional English carol, and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane.

Myra Leeper and Marty Starkey then performed two piano duets, “Canon in D” and “Joy to the World.”

“Canon in D” was composed by Johan Pachelbel and arranged by George Tingley. “Joy to the World” was composed by George Frederic Handel and arranged by Lowell Mason.

Finishing the program were Meg Litteral reading her poem, “I Hear the Song,” and Myra Leeper reading a short story titled “Hi There” by Nancy Dahlberg.

The Wooster Music Club meets the first Tuesday of the month from September through May, except for January and February. The meetings are held in Wesley Hall of the Wooster United Methodist Church.
