The Gnadenhutten Public Library will hold auditions for the 2019 production of “Christmas Comes to Miss Wood” on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at the library, 126 N. Walnut St., Gnadenhutten.

The play will be part of the Christmas on the Square celebration held on the first Saturday of December, which is Dec. 7. The time of the evening performance has yet to be determined.

Roles available include roles for three women, three men and 14 children. Some roles are nonspeaking and some have few lines. In addition the library needs singers of all ages to serve as a chorus of carolers for the play.

Back-stage help also is needed with scenery, props and costumes.

“Christmas Comes to Miss Wood” tells the story of a Scroogish librarian who refuses to have anything to do with Christmas in a small town that loves all things Christmas. Miss Wood makes the mistake of saying “Bah Humbug” on Christmas Eve and suffers consequences that lead her to rediscover what she lost one tragic Christmas. With a little literary magic, Miss Wood learns we are never too old to believe in Christmas miracles.
