There is a bus service from Wooster and Shreve to Columbus each day. Although unfamiliar to many, GoBus provides that service as Ohio’s only rural/intercity bus service.

Wayne County Transportation Coalition will provide the opportunity to learn more about that service on Tuesday, April 25 when GoBus staff will present the program and answer questions from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Wooster Community Center, located at 241 Bever St. in Wooster.

Representatives from KFH Consulting also will be on hand to gather public feedback about the current service and input about starting another route between Wooster and Cleveland.

One of the GoBus deluxe 50-passenger motor coaches will be on site for people to tour. The buses have free wireless internet outlets at every seat, extra leg room, an on-board restroom and seat belts at every seat. These buses also are wheelchair-accessible.

GoBus is an intercity transportation service that offers round trips three times daily from Athens to Columbus; twice daily from Athens to Cincinnati, Athens to Cleveland and Columbus to Wooster; and once daily from Columbus to Van Wert. A one-way ticket between Wooster and Columbus costs $18.

GoBus is helping to connect rural residents to urban centers and beyond by coordinating services with Greyhound Lines, Barons Bus Lines, John Glenn Columbus International Airport, and other national and local transportation services.

It is funded by the Federal Transit Administration’s Ohio Rural Intercity Bus Program and is designed to address the intercity bus transportation needs of the entire state by supporting projects that provide transportation between nonurbanized areas and urbanized areas that result in connections of greater regional, statewide and national significance.
